Simple Skincare Tips for Summer

Maintaining your skin year-round is the key to a healthy complexion, but the summer months need a little extra attention! Higher temperatures and elevated sun exposure require special care and prevention to keep your skin safe, protected and glowing. Read on for a roundup of Dr. Nassif’s best simple skincare tips for the summertime!

Summer Skin

We’ve said it once, twice, even a hundred times…and we’re saying it again: SPF.

Protecting your skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays isn’t an optional step in skincare. Any time you’re exposing yourself to the sun, you should be applying an SPF to fend off potential damage. In an ideal simple skincare routine, your sunscreen should be the last layer of your facial products before you apply makeup! Our pick? The Defend and Soothe daily antioxidant sunscreen.

Lighten up, buttercup!

In the summertime, your skincare products can be much more lightweight than what you’d use in your winter routine. Dr. Nassif recommends implementing a simple skincare routine in the hotter months including a foaming cleanser, a hydrating moisturizer, and gentle serums. Plus, if you tend to experience oilier skin in the summer, your skin will thank you for letting it breathe!

It’s sloughing season.

While it may not sound necessary, exfoliating in the summer is actually so important! Don’t overdo it, but incorporating a gentle exfoliator into your simple skincare routine will leave you fresh and glowing all summer long. We recommend using alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs)  to exfoliate, like our gentle or original Nassif Skincare Detox Pads. Keeping your skin clear helps to prevent blocked pores, especially when you’re wearing makeup in higher temperatures. Keep in mind: AHAs can increase your skin’s photosensitivity, so it’s even more important to keep that SPF slathered on all day long!
